Accountable

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 2, 2026

Accountable is a local-first screen-time accountability app. This policy describes what the Accountable iOS app processes, how it is used, where it is stored, and how it can be deleted.

Information processed on your device

Accountable stores app rules, Family Controls selections, onboarding answers, local profile information, token and reward history, exercise completion records, analytics aggregates, notification preferences, and Intentional Apps session history on the device and its shared App Group when an extension needs the same state.

Apple's verified Screen Time activity is rendered inside Apple's private report extension. Accountable does not copy those activity records into its host app. A daily Screen Time goal shares only your chosen numeric budget with the report extension. Written explanations for ending a temporary block or applying a pending limit change early stay in local private history and are included in the available account export and deletion controls.

If you create a local profile, the app stores your display name, email address, password verifier, recovery-key verifier, and account/session metadata locally. Passwords and recovery keys are not stored in plaintext.

Sign-in providers

Accountable supports optional Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In. When you choose a provider, iOS or Google processes the authentication request under that provider's privacy policy. Accountable receives a provider-scoped identifier and, when supplied, your display name and email address. These values are used only to create or restore the local Accountable profile on your device. Accountable does not receive your provider password or OAuth client secret, and does not retain access tokens, refresh tokens, or Apple private relay credentials after the sign-in flow.

Accountable currently has no Accountable cloud identity service. Provider profile values remain in local storage and are removed when you delete the local account or app data. A provider email is not silently merged with a different local password account.

Permissions and sensitive data

Permissions are optional and can be changed in iOS Settings. If a permission is declined, the related feature may be unavailable while the rest of the app remains usable.

Web views and third-party services

Intentional Apps and SocialLite may display public web destinations operated by third parties. Those sites may process requests, cookies, login details, and content under their own terms and privacy policies. Accountable does not sell or upload your social passwords or browsing content to an Accountable server.

A Reel shared in an Instagram message may play as one video in an on-device player. The player requests that media directly from the provider's servers; the media address is held temporarily for playback and is not written to Accountable's session history. Accountable does not provide a media-download or media-export feature. Third-party sites and media servers may receive network requests and show their own advertising under their own policies.

Accountable does not embed an advertising SDK, third-party analytics SDK, App Tracking Transparency tracking, or an Accountable cloud profile service in the App Store release. This does not mean that third-party webpages are ad-free or that their own services do not process data. Google and Apple process provider sign-in requests when you choose those options. StoreKit processes purchases and billing through Apple.

Sharing, retention, and deletion

Accountable does not sell personal information or use health, motion, camera, or Screen Time data for advertising. Local records remain on the device until you remove them, delete the app, or use an available reset/deletion control.

The Profile tab provides account export and Delete account. Deleting an account removes Accountable's local profile, credentials, recovery key, local app data, and session from that device. Apple subscription billing is separate: deleting an Accountable profile does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage or cancel subscriptions in Apple Account settings.

You can revoke permissions in iOS Settings and clear website data from the Accountable settings surface. For a privacy request that cannot be completed in the app, use the support page.

Future features

Remote AI review and remote peer approval are disabled in the App Store release configuration. If a future release enables them, this policy, consent screens, retention controls, and App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before release.
